Fascinating Fun Facts: • Kashmiri papier-mâché craft — known locally as kar i kalamdani — dates back to the 15th century, introduced to the Kashmir Valley via Persian and Central Asian trade routes • Each piece is handmade by layering soaked paper pulp over a mold, then hand-painted by skilled artisans using fine brushes — the dense all-over floral pattern seen here, known as the “garden” or gulkari style, is among the most labor-intensive designs Used For: Jewelry storage, trinket box, display, or decorative accent.
